Stuxnet – Isreali and US created virus that attacked Iran?

Discovered in June 2010, Stuxnet is a computer worm which spreads through Microsoft Windows and is also the first discovered Malware,  short for malicious software.

Designed to disrupt computer operations, gather sensitive information and gain unauthorized access to computer systems. It spies on subvert industrial systems and is the first to include a programmable logic controller (PLC).

Five Iranian organisations were subject to the various Stuxnet attacks.

Symantec stated in August 2010 that 60% of the infected computers worldwide were in Iran. The virus – which attacks Siemens industrial software and equipment – attacked the Iran nuclear programme, at point shutting down power stations.

It was confirmed it had been damaged by Stuxnet. Russia and Finnish computer security firms – Kaspersky Lab and F-Secures – concluded that the attacks had to be conducted ‘with nation-state support’. It’s been speculated – they deny it – that Israel and the US were involved.

Ralph Langner, researcher who identified that Stuxnet infected PLCs, stated in a TED Talk interview “My opinion is that the Mossad is involved but that the leading force is not Israel. The leading force behind Stuxnet is the cyber superpower—there is only one; and that’s the United States.”

Anonymous – international hacker group – confirmed during 2010 that they had the codes for Stuxnet, which they spread through the internet.

“While Israel has allegedly been happy to dispense hack attacks in the past… we doubt it will be as happy to be seen on the receiving end of decentralized computer warfare,” was an announcement that appeared towards the end of June 2011 on the AnonOps blog.

Several Israeli government websites crashed during June – websites of the IDF, Mossad and the Shin Bet security services were sites taken down, along with several government portals and ministries.

These attacks were in response of the Gaza and west-bank occupation by Israel since the land was taken in the six-day war and because of the brutalisation of Palestinian civilians.

Anonymous defended a group who feed the homeless weekly

The Orlando 11th Circuit Court of Appeals put, apparently ‘reasonable’ restrictions on feeding the homeless. Last year in April courts ruled to enforce ordinance restricting on weekly feeding of the homeless in the downtown park.

The Orlando Food not Bombs group started feeding the homeless in 2005, distributing free food at Lake Eola Park every Wednesday. The group argue feeding the homeless is an act of political expression fully protected by the First Amendment.

International attention was bought to the group when the Police made 20 arrests following the courts ruling on requiring a permit for groups conducting large-scale feeding operations in an attempt to disperse complaints made by nearby residents . Only two permits a year are issued for any one park.

A federal Judge agreed with OFNB, and second group First Vagabonds Church of God, issuing an injunction blocking enforcement of the ordinance.

The 11th Circuit got involved and their 10-judge court agreed in August to reverse the injunction and allow the city to enforce restricting.

Come June, Anonymous shut down the Orland Chamber of Commerce’s website for the majority of the day and posted “boycott Orlando” on a major theme park’s front page, protesting against homeless-feeding policies of Mayor Buddy Dyer.

A message, under the name of Anonymous, was sent to the Chamber of Commerce making the so called threat, they’d send messages to 250 million email addresses across the globe to support the boycott.

US tourist website, owned by the city was taken offline during the last week of June,

The group created a website in full support of the food not bombs campaign.

A PS reminder at the bottom of the page, directed at the Orlando City Visitor Board, stated they would not be attacked if they show their support for the group.

Members of the group vowed to take down one Orlando-promoting website each day of the campaign.

During the weekend, the group posted a picture taken outside Mayor Buddy Dyer’s home in College Park, with the classic Guy Fawkes mask left hanging from a street sign.

Orland police Sgt. Vince Ogburn stated “We consider it a threat because they targeted an individual”.

The mayor’s office declined to comment, deferring to the Police Department.

An Anonymous member on twitter denied it being a threat stating “It was just proving a point, Anon will always be non-violent… we are however watching. Expect us.”

Hackers gained access to a password-protected area of the website for the Orange County Democratic Party and posted the names, addresses and phone numbers of its members.

Roberta Bailey, unaware her password had been compromised until notified by a reporter said “It makes me uneasy and angry,” Bailey said. “I don’t think it proves much of anything. To what end?”
Orlando police and FBI along with city computer technicians are investigating the attacks.
The groups last attacks were on July 11, when the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orlando and the Rotary Club of Orlando were taken down.

This shows Anonymous fights for not only civil rights, freedom but also in defense of the homeless.

Operation Malaysia – don’t say they never told you

Anonymous dubbed the Malaysian Government as one of the strictest on censorship, when in June last year ministers decided to push forward the blocking of sites such as Pirate Bay for violating Section 41 of the Copyright Act 1987.

Dr Rais Yatim, Minster of information, justified this action by ‘only when crimes are committed through the channels and through cyber space will the mechanism come into play’.

However this doesn’t justify the blocked on whistle-blowers site, Wikileaks who have prompted plenty accusations of crime but have actually yet to break any international law. Ignoring western medias campaign to create Assange into a cyber terrorist the Group itself broken no written laws releasing the US cables.

Anonymous warned the government by realising their attack and plans online giving the government enough time to think about it, can’t say they never warned you.

This image circulated around for a week for the attacks, calling on supporters to attack on June 15 at 7:30pm GMT.

On the morning of the 16th Malaysian Communications and Multimedia commission confirmed Ninety-one websites were attacked.

In a video statement released by Anonymous on the 14th, the group warned the Malaysian government “this is a sign, a warning, and an opportunity to listen to ideas above your own.”

“Now we will wash your corruption away so be prepared. Take this as a favour,” the group concluded.

Anonymous protected its members, including those from within Malaysia by encouraging them to use VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) which will encrypt their networked connection and transfer their date from remotest locations that cannot be accessed without authentication.

Malaysia worked to thwart a planned assault on the government’s official website by international hackers however it failed.

Baba Ramdev backed by Anonymous

Baba Ramdev, infamous for ventures in yoga, ayurvedic medicine and agriculture, as well as his advocacy on Indian political issues and current campaign on corruption in India, was evicted June of last year and banned, from Dehli by police force.

I can do this, i don't even do yogaaa, and what........

Described as the ‘darkest night of his life’, which social activist Shanti Bushan, said was a violation of basic democratic rights and that”the government should resign”,  Baba was said to have 65000 followers performing at what is argued a largely peaceful protest creating protective rings around the hunger protesting activist.

Ramdev said “The police force 5000-10,000 in number, did not even spare the smallest children. Women and children were dragged and beaten up.” Even Ramdev had to desiguesse himself as a woman as followers tried to protect him.

The government justified the eviction of Baba and his follows cause he was violating yoga gathering permission in which Senior minister Kapil Sibal said Baba Ramdevs peace protest of up to 50,000 people only has permision for 5000.

A good reason to advocate violence?

Operation India, certian members of Anonymous voiced out their anger against the incident by defacing the NIC (National Informatics center) and leaving this messege on the governmant website.

“Greetings! We exist without nationality…We exist with humanity. Get this message clear Mr Prime Minister and others. We do not like to talk much and Yes! IT is our world. Expect us.”

According to a government expert on cyber security “This was more a playful threat, that exploited some weaknesses of the NIC site” as no information was stolen, neither any damage done.

Since then Anonymous announced its attack via Twitter, Operation India which since it started spread like wildfire through out the country.!/operationindia

Why did the bbc say when reporting on Anonymous arrests ‘It seems that Loic did a poor job of hiding the identity of the people using it’. When we know it doesn’t protect IP’s?

In June of last year Spanish Police arrested three suspects expected to be involved in the PlayStation Network attack that headlined news throughout May.

Police said they found the trio in Barcelona, after analyzing web pages and chats and finding more than two million lines recorded showing their involvement.

Spanish police said in statement “One of them had in his home a server on which they coordinated and executed computer attacks on government, financial and business web pages around the world”.

The suspects were believed to have launched attacks on PSN, banks BBVA and Bankia, italian power company Enel, and the governments of Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Iran, Chile, Colombia and New Zealand and were released with no bail.

Why Anonymous denies its rumored involvement’s in the card theft involved with PSN attacks, the group doesn’t deny DDoS attacks on Sony.

In a statement made by members of the group, it stated “While we are a distributed and decentralized group, our ‘leadership’ does not condone credit card theft,

We are concerned with the erosion of privacy and fair use, the spread of corporate feudalism, the abuse of power and the justifications of executives and leaders who believe themselves immune personally and financially for the actions they undertake in the name of corporations and public office.”

In retaliation to the arrests Anonymous members used DDoS attacks, which it claims are legitimate forms of peaceful protest, to take to down the Spanish police website which went offline for at least  an hour following the arrests.

Spanish police claimed that the arrested members were Anonymous ‘leaders’, however if you know anonymous, you know there are no leaders.

“They did not arrest any core group, because we don’t have a core group,” said Anonymous in a statement.

The BBC reported on the arrests stating  ‘It seems that Loic (low orbit ion cannon) did a poor job of hiding the identity of the people using it’.

As a journalist, the details always tell the story.
James McBride

I had much respect for the BBC, until it censored the words ‘free palatine’ in Mic righteous freestyle.

Studying journalism myself, i know research is key.

I looked up in google ‘LOIC does it hide your IP address’ this is what i found

All of the first three links tell you directly that LOIC does not protect your IP address.
So little research done by the BBC, or are they putting anonymous in a bad light saying it does not protects its individuals?

When in fact some anonymous members tells users to use the TOR project, a global onion router network that provides anonymity for users.

Of course with the BBC reporting like this, you can only assume western media will try to connect anonymous members with pedophiles who use  TOR (not the one republic their just hardcore star wars fans) but the ‘dark-net’ which provides anonymity.

So in this post I’ll remind people about this article headlined ‘Anonymous takes down dark-net child porn site on Tor network’

Sony you went wrong with you PS3, i’ll just keep backing the hacker society, hope this post has helped you understand how it was wrong for you to censor your brand.

This post is  mainly about the Anonymous rumored hack, background info on it and something people don’t realize or remember about Sony, which i think was a massive reason for the attack.

George Francis Hotz a 22-year-old hacker from New Jersey, whose alias include Geoshot, Million45 and Mil, gained fame and notoriety for unlocking the I-phone and for his hacking of the Sony PS3 which made him subject to a lawsuit.

Hotz created a blog announcing his plans to hack the Sony PS3 and five weeks later from its creation in January 2010, he announced that he had hacked the PlayStation allowing himself to read and write and have access to the machines system.

On January 2, 2011 he posted root keys to the PS3 on his website along with a D.I.Y video, they were later removed as a result of legal action by Sony,  and by the 11th Sony filled an application for a temporary restraining order against Hotz in the US District court of northern California.

Sony took Mr Hotz to court for breaching the Digital Millennium Copyright Act for publishing the encryption keys and software tools to allow complete control of their consoles. Sony also was granted by judge, the right to acquire the IP addresses of anybody who visited the hackers websites from its 2009 and the power to demand Youtube to hand over IPs, including the access to Mr Hotz Paypal account.

Hotz made this comedy parody rap song about the incident, which lyrically and considering the flow, was actually pretty good and very funny.

As april came, it was revealed that Hotz and Sony had settled the lawsuit out of court with the condition of Hotz never resuming hacking against Sony.

Anonymous got involved in retaliation against Sony’s gaining of access to the IP addresses dubbing this as a ‘offence against free speech and internet freedom’.

This video statement was uploaded on YouTube 7th april 2011.

Anonymous claimed to be responsible for DDos attacks on and the Playstation store however the attackers of the network remain silent and with so many claims being passed around it’s hard to find an individual or a group responsible. Although, some claim the first few days of the network being down was Anonymous, however there is no proof. Plans had emerged that a hardcore splinter faction of Anonymous were merging plans to target Sony executives.

Anonymous branch AnonOps denied being involved with the major Playstation network attack, which resulted in hackers breaking into the network, and apparently stealing personal information on some 77 million users along with keeping the network down for nearly two months.

Hotz denied any responsibility or connection for the attack and stated “Running homebrew and exploring security on your devices is cool; hacking into someone else’s server and stealing databases of user info is not cool”.

One thing people forget about this story is Anonymous attacked Sony for the Censorship of how the products work and for demanding the IP addresses, breaking people’s free rights, however what people forget is that Sony was slated back in 2005; being accused of using virus writers tactics to stops CDS being illegally copied, using cloaked files that hide deep inside Windows systems.

The rootkits Sony used were hidden and discovered in infected CDS that had Mark E. Russinovich, a technical fellow in the platform and service division at Microsoft, stating that Sony’s antipiracy has gone ‘too far’.

Using a utility he created Mark spotted so-called rootkits (used by computer virus writers because it allows codes to be hidden deep inside windows operating systems meaning it won’t be spotted by most anti-virus scanners) via infected CDS.

From listening to some of the Sony CDs the ‘clocked’ software becomes installing along with hidden files that come from an anti-copying system called extend copy protection (XCP) developed by UK software company First 4 internet.

In his blog about the incident, he said: “Not only had Sony put software on my system that uses techniques commonly used by malware to mask its presence, the software is poorly written and provides no means for uninstall.”

Mr Russinovich said the licence agreement that he accepted when he first listened to the CD, made no mention of the fact that he could not uninstall the program or of the significant changes it made to his computer.

Many people attack Anonymous over their ‘alleged’ involvement with the massive Sony attack, as PS3 user myself and a Student, free internet is given, i know we can directly blame Anonymous; as it’s a collective and there are always other hackers in the world some who do it more just the lulz then any other reason.

But if Sony has to power to trace IP addresses, uses virus writers tactics and censor certain aspects of the PS3, this is what Anonymous fight against censorship, corruption and when corporations become too strong and are able to abuse Judaical systems, what did you expect?

Just cause its popular and used by so many does it deserve to have better treatment then how Anonymous treat Governments, and not many people complain about that?

And with the 70 million members private information, i haven’t attempted to censor, neither any corruption, so what are Anonymous gonna do it with it? its pretty much the same shit face-book and Google have on me anyway.

Thinking of a nice way to end the blog with maybe a catchy tune, I’m reminded of  a song which was made during the lead up the PS3 when the consoles kept failing, i think the lyrics could be adapted which can be seen in the tittle, that Sony went wrong when it used censorship and was proven slightly corrupt over this whole fiasco; which was a direct result of the attack on the PS3, so maybe they did go wrong with their PS3, who knows.

Thanks Sarcasticgamer, this song is really catchy and I’d actually listen to it on my I-pod, i don’t know what that says about me though…..

How BankOfAmerica, bourght out domains to stop anything Anti-BoA but forget to buy

During March of last year Anonymous took on what is considered the second largest bank holding company in the United States (by assets) and the fourth largest bank in the U.S by market capitalization.

Anonymous released a cache of e-mails which it claims show impropriety at Bank of America. The leaked included correspondence between staff at BoA subsidiary Balboa insurance, details plans to delete sensitive documents.

The BoA denies claims and called the claims ‘extravagant’, for months before the company had been subject to rumors of wrong doing.

One of the documents appears to show an employee of Bilboa Insurance, x-employee of the bank and asking a colleague to delete certain loan identifying numbers from their computer system.
No information is given about the reason for the deletion, or whether it was ultimately carried out.
An Anonymous member, posting updates on Twitter under the name OperationLeakS said the e-mails form the first part of a series of planned leaks that will prove Bank of America engaged in improper mortgage foreclosure practices.

The e-mail cache was uploaded to, the BoA attempted to buy out any domains before the leaks happened that would offend them such as however what they forgot to get was, EPIC FAIL.

The website will also teach viewers about how the monetary policy works and how we’ve been enslaved to this system with the loss of some of the most world inspiring individuals, RIP JFK.

Last president to try and save our scrawny arses.

One employee was quoted in the emails saying ‘i can’t even get the local news stations to pay attention, because they’re most interested in puppies and car crashes then one of the largest banks in the world ripping them all off.’

This was one of the latest attacks on a US government that attempts to isolate Wikileaks.

Koch Brothers are too Right-wing groups what Murdoch is to Parliment

The 2011 Wisconsin protests were in retaliation to the Wisconsin Budget Repair Bill, which suffered from opposition from conservatives, including tea party advocates.

In retaliation on February 27, 2011 Anonymous created Operation Wisconsin, attacking about David and Charles Koch (billionaire owners of Koch industries) for attempting to ‘usurp’ American Democracy.

Their actions to undermine the legitimate political process in Wisconsin was the final straw. Starting today we fight back’ Anonymous warned the Koch industries owners. Anonymous called on defenders and supporters of Democracy, and Freedom of The People, to boycott all Koch Industries’ paper products.

These included products such as Vanity Fair, Sparkle, Angel soft and many more US products including European products such as Lotus, Demak’Up, Tenderly and many more.

Lobbying is a clear problem in the US and the UK, on the 25th it was diced that Koch’s had spent over the years on various right-wing cause an estimation of up to $20 million dollars to groups such as Americans for Prosperity, ACLU, Club for Growth and Citizens United basically lobbying against unions.

The Koch’s are one of (Republican) Governor Walker’s largest corporate supporters. This was really a first attack that had been made by a hacktivist group against lobbying.

I would like to see the group do something about UK lobbying, as who really runs the UK Cameron or Murdoch? the US needs change just as much as the UK does?

Westboro-baptist church attempt to use Anonymous for fame, Anonymous takes down WBC website on live interview

This relates to February 16th 2011 and onwards.

Heads of attention-seeking, demonic, freakishly spine-tingling, nearly as creepy as Fritzel group and argued to be the most hated family of America, the Westboro Baptist church, known for their ‘God hates gays and soldiers campaigns’, accused of Anonymous sending an open attack letter to the church.

The open letter stated “Cease & desist your protest campaign in the year 2011 … close your public Web sites. Should you ignore this warning … the propaganda & detestable doctrine that you promote will be eradicated; the damage incurred will be irreversible, and neither your institution nor your congregation will ever be able to fully recover.”

To get more of the gist of the church, here’s the church on a show which profits of openly making British people feel better about themselves by displaying some of the most dire British cretin. Speaking to someone equally as much of a Nob, Jeremy Kyle.

The church made a statement telling Anonymous to ‘bring it on’ and stating God hates fags & lousy ‘hackers’, personally if its only ‘God’ who hates ‘fags’ and these lousy hackers and possibly a few people from Texas, they must be doing something right as the whole of America hates this family.

The statement…

Anonymous denies this, claiming the group is seeking attention as anonymous has become an international internet meme. Anonymous taking a very gentlemen approach, thanks the church for recognizing Anonymous, however why they hate what the church preaches, they do have more pressing matters and say ‘Stay tuned, and we’ll come back to play another day.’ Having to remind the church that this is a collective, many sub-groups and many ‘trolls’, in a statement they ask members to not use DoS attacks on the church as it would only further their attention seeking habits.

Here’s the anonymous statement

Anonymous call the Westboro Church “professional trolls” stating that they believe that it was a member of the Westboro Church making an attempt to provoke an attack.

Of course though some of the older members advised others how to attack the church using an Anon attack instead of a DoS attack with some method to ‘Call some prostitutes to go to their address. Preferably male.‘ hows that for the lulz. However some sympathy has to be made for the poor prostitutes who will be upset when their not payed, lets hope a ‘pimp named slick-back’ can get the money from the WBC.

Why people are still unsure who actually attack the church, in a live interview with David Pakman, Shirley Phelps-Roper from the WBC and an Anonymous representative talk about the whole situation. In this interview Anonymous hacks the WBC website during a live confrontation, however the first 4 or 5 websites attacks was actually done by other hacktivist ‘Jester’. Anonymous did take action, live on the interview even after saying this WBC operation isn’t worth the time with more pressing matters.

That smile on David Pakman really shows just how much Anonymous do achieve LULZ.

Claiming to be an ex-soldier with a rather famous unit serving two tour of duty in and around Afghanistan aged between 31-49, Jester or th3j35t3r although its argued he is not a ‘long-wolf’ there is no evidence he’s in a collective or not and Anonymous state he does not work alongside them.

As through out this blog, most of the time I try to be objective through here on this post I must make my opinions I personally see jester as King of Trolling rumored to be taking on Anonymous, 4-chan and still applying his activism taking on Al-qaeda communications and other jihad sites. This man doesn’t deface websites he takes them down, unlike some hacktivism, he takes them down permanently.

It’s a really underdog story with him literally taking on everyone and anyone, pretty cool.

As for WBC, I am not religious, though I have no problem with it as-long as they don’t try ramming their beliefs in my head, this is not me attacking religion, saying they do that because they don’t really in the UK , I also don’t like the way British educations rammed its one-sided history in my head. I do, however believe in miracles, just the miracles of science. For me creationism is just too hell-bent on trying to stop people from proving them wrong, other than actually attempting to prove themselves right.

HBGary Federal and Aaron Barr get slapped by Anonymous

On the first weekend of February 2011, Chief executive  Aaron Barr of Security firm HBGary Federal announced his firm had infiltrated Anonymous claiming he could identify members of the Anonymous group . Although he said he wouldn’t hand information to the police he suggested he’d reveal the information at a Sans Francisco conference.

Anonymous members retaliated by hacking into the HBGary Fedral website replacing the front page with a message stating Anonymous was not to be messed with. They breached the companies website taking and publishing om Pirate Bay more then 68,000 emails for anyone to freely download and to shift through.

Using a social engineering and SQL injection (inputting SQL statements in a web form to get a badly designed website to perform operations on the database) managing to erase files and even shut down the phone-line of the firm.

Leaked emails revealed the reports and company presentations of other firms such as Endgame systems, who promise high quality offensive software, advertising “subscriptions of $2,500,000 per year for access to 0day exploits.”

Anonymous also personally attacked Aaron Barr by taking control of his Twitter account, posting Mr Barr’s supposed home address and social security number.

Within the documents a power point was found titled ‘the Wikileaks threat’ put together by HBGary Federal along with two other data intelligence firms for Bank of America in December.

Along with “the plan included pressing a journalist in order to disrupt his support of the organization, cyber attacks, disinformation, and other potential proactive tactics,” it also addressed Glenn Greenwalds rumored key support for Wikieleaks survival.

Founder of HBGary Federal, Greg Hoglund, responded to journalist Brian Krebs saying “They didn’t just pick on any company, we try to protect the US Government from hackers. They couldn’t have chosen a worse company to pick on.”
